The arm up points to the threat of a atomic bomb and the left arm represents peace.

Konichiwa....
Checking in from Fukuoka, Japan. We played our second game today and won by 2 points.... Always feels good to pull off a win against a good team. We started a little slow and flat but got into a groove and were able to pull off a hard fought game. Chelsea started the game strong for us and when a few were struggling she came up big with some nice baskets. Miranda did a great job of hitting some big baskets for us, and made some awesome hustle plays down the stretch of the game. Props to Chelsea for getting a huge block in the game also.... Defensively we stayed strong and did a great job of communicating and playing team defense, we made some big stops when we needed them. Japan is a very scrappy, fast team, that like to push the tempo. They do a good job of punishing us when we make a mistake, so to get a quality team effort win from them shows how much we have improved since our first training camp in May.

Last night we left Nagasaki and stayed in a city outside of town. On our way out we stopped by "Ground Zero" and did some sight seeing. It was the sight of the first atomic bomb that was dropped over Japan on August 9th, 1945. We learned that the Americans didn't originally plan on dropping the bomb at that location but clouds made the first destination non visible, so Nagasaki became the target. Over 75,000 people died and close to the same amount of people injured. It is a garden like memorial with a few statues, fountain, and walkways. Originally they thought that vegetation wouldn't be able to grow for about 75 years. Really can't describe the emotion and feelings we got walking around the area. It is amazing being able to play a sport we love, represent our country and experience and see things like we did in Nagasaki.

So now after a long day we are finally settled into our third hotel, we are going to rest up for our last game against Japan tomorrow and then it is off to China.

We really can't say enough about how amazing this trip to Japan has been. They have treated us like royalty, the food has been amazing, and they are so organized. I know we are all saying it would be great to come back here again.
