Words really can't describe the feeling we are experiencing. We invested so much time and heart and right now all we are left with is tears. We did pretty much everything we could have done to win the game, and in the end we were unlucky. It was a great game; we were down early and then re-grouped and ferociously fought back to take the lead, but again, they hit a hail mary shot and we were unlucky down the stretch with a few calls. Like everything we do with this programs, we will all learn from this and get better and keep fighting.

This loss was devastating, but the Olympic dream is not over... It will just take a little longer to get there. We have qualified for the pre-Olympic tournament June 25 where we will compete with 11 other teams and 5 will qualify to London from there. The format of that tournament will be four pools of three teams; there will be a round robin and the winner of each pool will directly qualify for the games. Then, the four second place teams will fight it out for the final spot at the games. Keep believing in us... we are going to make this happen!

For today, our focus has to shift to Cuba and beating them for the Bronze medal. Both teams are upset to not be in the finals so this will be a test of character to see who has some fight left in the tank.

  4. Congratulation on the bronze ladies but from watching all the games that was your tournament to loose. I was just a little confused in the Brazil, Cuba, and Argentina why were your bench players not utilized more in those games. They contributed so well when they were playing and your older senior played better when they were well rested. I also thing that we need to as a country stop making excuse like we are not qualified to be 1st it like we settle. One of our senior staff was voicing to the commentator during a game, that our goal was to make it to top 4 well we were definitely the author of our faith in this tournament.
Congratulation again ladies and 1st place in July not wrong with being 1st.
