We have arrived safe and sound. Twelve hours is a really long time to be stuck on a plane in the middle of the day with no entertainment. We read a lot of books and took a few naps. Except for Teresa who slept 9 of the 12 hours, sleep deprivation hanging over from her regular job.

By the time we finally reached Fukuoka we were dragging. When we stepped out of baggage claim there was an enthusiastic translator welcoming us with a sign. She made sure we were all herded into the same area, the airport was quite empty and our matching red t-shirts pretty much ensure we don’t get lost. However it was great to be greeted with such zeal. After making a quick bathroom stop she lifted her yellow flag high in the air and we were following the leader out to the bus!

Upon arrival we showered and crashed hard until this mornings breakfast and film. Nagasaki is beautiful. The city is so clean and the people are so polite. The weather is hot, we will be drinking a lot of e-load during practices and games. It is good preparation for us as our qualifiers will be in Neiva, Columbia which sits close to the equator.

On the way to practice we drove past a few historical sites… the peace statue park, Urakami Cathedral and the atomic bomb museum. We will get a chance to be brief tourists after our game tomorrow.

The internet at the hotel is not that great so if the posts are late we apologize. Game today against Japan.
