Hello From Germany!!

Hi Everyone!!! This is Tamara Tatham writing from Wasserburg Germany!

After leaving Brazil I caught a flight to Germany the next day!!!! I was crazy tired the first couple of days but, it didn't take me very long to get back into the swing of things. Everything is going well here in my new city. My teammates are great and were very welcoming when I arrived. The city is really small and has a lot of farm land surrounding it! It's very easy to get around and for me, everything seems to only be a quick 5 minute drive. Whether I'm driving to a restaurant, the grocery store or to practice. We are also only 45 minute away from Munich and I've already been there a couple times.... to shop of course!

It's definitely all about women's basketball here in Wasserburg and coming here I've learned that the team has to live up to great expectations. The club has won 5 German championships in a row. Losing last season to their rivals in the finals has added fuel to the fire and we have our sites set on a 6th championship. Our team gets great support from our sponsors and fans. When I got here the team was in 8th place. But, after an amazing performance this weekend we have climbed our way to the top and there is no looking back. Staying in 1st place is our goal.
As for me, it feels great being on this team because we are playing and winning as a team. There is no one woman show and it feels great to be able to play with such experienced players from all over Europe. We have a Romanian point guard who has played all over Europe as well as euro-league for many years. She is now 34 and is still so amazing and VERY smart! We have a player from Australia who is also very experienced and has been playing pro for years. We have 4 German national team players and one player from Slovakia, all with great experience. Also, one American and of course as you all know, one Canadian!! Our team is diverse and we have many weapons. So I look forward to continue playing and growing as a player here in Wasserburg.
I also look forward to updating you all with my progress in Germany as my season goes on!
That's it for now:))
GO CANADA GO!!

  2. I'm confused... can't a team only have 2 import players?

  3. Generally it is only two foreign players per team, every country has different rules. Import players are those who are not from FIBA Europe, so a team can have players from all over Europe and they do not count as imports.
There are also many players who may be from the US, Canada, Australia and hold a European passport as well. If that is the case then they can use the Europe passport.
    Hope that helps!
