Kim Smith checking in here for canadaball.blogspot.com. I had to tell everyone how excited I got for next summer this past week.
I was in Toronto this past week taking in the city, going to some doctor appointments, staying in my sisters awesome city apartment. Had a break in the action and as all Canadian citizens should I visited the Hockey Hall of Fame. I've been there before on a couple of occasions and have always had a great time. This time was memorable though because on special display from the IOC were actual medals from every modern olympiad. It was absolutely inspiring.
I can't speak for the other girls on the team, but the olympics, namely winning a medal has been the biggest dream of mine in basketball for as long as I can remember. I've been so fortunate with basketball to receive an education, play for a chance to go to the final four, heck i've even played for a WNBA championship -but nothing- I mean nothing would mean as much to me as representing Canada in something as cool as the Olympics.
Anyone in Ontario should go check it out before it leaves in January. Totally worth it. I want everyone who follows us to know that we are going to do whatever it takes to make everyone proud and represent you to the best we can next summer at the World Championships.
As for everything else not much new to report. I am excited to report that I got my teeth fixed. Not many people realize this when they see me in person (at least I hope), but I lost my two front teeth in a game back in high school. I've had fake front teeth since then until I knocked them out again this past spring in a pickup game. Kids please wear a mouthpiece when you play. Especially if you are a girl. The Alex Ovechkin look is not very becoming for us ladies. But I am all good now and the smile is looking fresh.
I'm still weighing my options for going overseas this winter to play. I think everyone on our team needed some time off after the summer we had. I talk with my agent every week, just figuring out what works best with me.
I plan on heading down to the states to go visit with some friends for now. I'm starting pick my training back up again. Swimming, lifting and shooting for now. I try to keep up with what everyone is doing via the computer. Can't wait to see what everyone else posts for the month. Catch you later
