The beginning of my senior year!
Hey Everyone! :) This is Natalie Achonwa reporting from good ole’ Guelph - Hamilton, Ontario.
As soon as I got back from Brazil it was pretty much back to school and physio for my ankle. Even though with all the work I did while travelling, I still had plenty of tests and assignments to catch up on once I got back to high school. The worst part of it all was that I was back at school for 2 days, and then got sick! I had to go to the doctors for some blood tests because I had a virus, and they wanted to make sure it wasn’t mono :) ... Luckily after a couple of days of rest and a negative result for mono, I was back at school – catching up, once again.
About two weekends ago I took my official visit to Notre Dame University. I got to see some familiar faces, meet some new people, sit through a very exciting accounting class, drive a golf cart around campus, and watch the ND - USC football game. The stadium for the football game was packed! After 3 last second attempts in the 4th quarter to send the game to overtime, we couldn’t pull through and unfortunately lost the game. It was such an exciting weekend for me. My mom, dad and younger sister came along as well.
This past Tuesday, I got the chance to go to the “More Than A Game” Canada Basketball event. I was asked to come on behalf of the Junior National Team, and Alisha Tathum was there for our women’s Senior Team. It was great to catch up with her! And of course I got to see Coach Mike McNeill, who was in town to watch the Toronto Raptors beat the Cavaliers in their season opener! It was amazing to see the Lebron James (Fab. 5)/Coach Dru documentary, and to meet, Kristopher Belman, the director of the film.
Well besides those two major events, I am just trying to get through my senior year at St. Mary’s High School. After a very busy and long summer, it’s great to be home and to refuel for the long journey ahead.
Take care everyone.
GO Canada, GO Irish, and... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Ttyl,
Nat.
