Hi Everyone!
Well how exciting is it to finally have a gold medal won in our country?!? Congrats to Alex Bilodeau, I'm sure it will be the first of many for Canada :) And how great is is to see all those athletes from everywhere in the world coming together in a common passion and interest for sport? That's one of my favourite things about being on the national team. I get to meet and compete against other athletes from all over the world, who love the game of basketball like me. They train everyday like I do and want to win just as badly as I do. They are people I have never met in my life, yet they understand the ups and downs that I go through. They have experienced the pain of failure and the ecstasy of victory. They leave blood, sweat and tears along with everything else on the floor. It is so powerful to share that with a complete stranger!
Here's a link to a commercial that I love right now, I think it encompasses what coming together is all about:
Since my last post I have been actively resting, doing lots of Bikram yoga! You should try it if you haven't already! You can experience summer for 90 minutes as you stretch, twist and torque even in the dead of winter! This past week I added lifting, running and doing court workouts to the mix. My body and I are not on speaking terms right now, but it's getting better with each day, and I think my body will be my friend again soon :)
This past week my boyfriend and I got in on the Olympic action and visited the Richmond O-Zone. It wasn't quite open yet, but it was still fun to walk around and get excited with everyone about how close the Olympics were! It was also fun the see people getting ready for the Chinese Lunar New Year! I celebrated it with him and his family down in Seattle, having my first hot pot experience. Now, if you know me, you know I love food (food and I have a love-love relationship). Hot pot basically is chilling in front of a boiling pot and cooking all kinds of yummy food, then eating all that yummy food. So now hot pot and I have a love-love relationship, and it was a great way to bring in the Chinese New Year!
Thanks to all of you who continue to follow our blog! Keep wearing that red and white proudly :) Go Canada Go!
